Research Experience

Gained research skills at Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology volunteering in different labs.  Conducting zooxanthellae counts in different species of corals exposed to different measures of stressors to assess bleaching levels.  Used a spectrometer to look at chlorophyl levels in these corals.

Conducted benthic and sediment surveys at the He'eia Fishpond as baseline data before invasive mangrove removal.  In the future will be looking to see if sediment reduced over coral reefs.

Collaborated with The Nature Conservancy to bring students to a patch reef to conduct fish surveys.

Used photography and software to create 3D images of coral reefs with local high school students.
